Standing Guard
"Kura," Xavier started, "I thought you were supposed to be standing guard."
"Yes, sir. I was, until she arrived." Kura replied gruffly.
"She?" Xavier looked blank; when Kura parted way for the wolfess to come through, she simply stared at Xavier with a blank, dull stare.
"Hello, again." The she-wolf swished her tail calmly, but something evil was lurking in those pale eyes.
"Death...why are you here, hmm?" Xavier growled.
"Oh," Death chuckled, "I'm looking for my sister."
"You won't find her here," Although he uttered in a casual way, Xavier in fact knew that Spectrum was hiding amongst the lab walls, hiding from her.
"Well, tell her that her sister came by." Death turned away.
Two black paws along with a set of purple eyes darted back and forth as they neared. "There'll be no need for that, Death. I'm right here."
Death smiled. "Well, good. I was wondering where you had gotten off to. But--"
Yellow fangs growled to the she-wolf, "Don't touch her, Death. Lay a paw on her and I'll use your eyes as candles."
Death was taken aback, but Spectrum nudged him, "Don't interfere, silly. I'll take it from here."
Xavier and Kura walked away, leaving the two she-wolves go.
"Now," Death began, "There's something that needs to be sorted out."
"Like what?" Spectrum asked.
"Do you miss dad?" Death smiled grimly.
"Well, that's out of the blue," Spectrum snarled, "Of course I do."
"How much?"
"A lot. I don't see where this is going." Spectrum sighed.
Kura shifted uncomfortably, "She can't be here! She's trespassing."
Xavier nodded back, "Shall we spy on them, so Spectrum stays out of trouble?"
"Agreed."
"Kura," Xavier started, "I thought you were supposed to be standing guard."
