Chapter Eight: Return to the Earth
"Where am I?" Spectrum was saying, "I can't see anything in here."
The black wolf was looking about her, and nothing came into focus. Everything was dead black. But then, a beautiful shining light came into view.
"Do not worry, young wolf. You are safe with us." It seemed to say.
"Who are you?" Spectrum asked to the light, which in turn replied:
"I am Dawn, Mother of the wolves, the gentle and kind of the morning. I have come to take you home."

Spectrum was in shock, and didn't say anything. The light shone to her, and it stroked against her back. Soon the light transformed to a stunning white she-wolf with the most shining and strong blue eyes Spectrum had ever seen. All around her was a lush green forest, with sunny meadows and cherry blossom trees. Below the trees was a glistening river of blue. It had scattered petals of the trees all on the surface. Spectrum could feel tears dripping from her cheeks, for everything was just so beautiful and dream-like. She sat down, and looked up at Dawn, whose gaze seemed to stare right into her.

"You are safe here in the Forest of the Glistening Rivers. This is the place where souls of wolves had lived on, and rested in peace for eternity." Dawn smiled at her.

And then, from the rivers, a black wolf had formed. Its eyes were shining amber, and he had a friendly smile on his face.

"My name is Dusk. I am the Father of the wolves, the hunter and guardian of the night."
Spectrum looked at him, with watery eyes and a peaceful smile.
"Do not cry, dear one," Dawn soothed, "You are home, where the waters of fresh delight and the tastiest fish swim across the years."
"And here your ancestors walk," Dusk told Spectrum, "They have wanted to meet you, face to face."

And emerging from the forest were six wolves; each looked wise and ageless. One of them she immediately recognized; it was Bloodfang. He smiled, along with a pair of friendly eyes. Now though, walking up to her was a blackish-grey she-wolf, who nuzzled Spectrum's neck.
"I am Mist, the mother of Sin, your father."

Another wolf, this one a brown colour, walked beside her, and chuckled, "I am Oak. I am the father of Sin."

A brownish red wolf, a grey wolf, and a creamy-white she-wolf walked towards them.
"I'm Bay," the brownish-red male barked, "Soldier of the Element Force. I was killed in the mission to the Blood Army."

"And I'm Smoke, father of Bless, and this is Moth," he nudged the white she-wolf, "Mother of Bless."
"Pleased to meet you." She smiled at Spectrum in a lovely voice.
"My…family," she whispered, "My family is here….but…where are my parents?"
"They are alive," Moth told her, "They are in the Mountain Ridge, guardians of Alpha Willow."

"Alive!?" Spectrum flinched, "But…I thought…they were dead!"
"No, my grand-daughter," Oak replied, "They haven't joined us yet."
And from behind the wolves, the huge black body of Dusk resided.
"But there is some news…" he said, "Your sister…well, she isn't here also. She's drowned in darkness and is nowhere to be found."

"What?" Spectrum sighed, "She should be here with you."
"No," Dawn's voice was strong, "She betrayed your pack, and killed you. She isn't here."
"I don't believe this." Spectrum sighed, more loudly this time.
"I'm sorry, dear," Moth nudged her, "Maybe you'll find the light in her."
"There is something also," Dawn sadly said, "The spirits that are with her have granted her entrance to the outside world. She will be coming back, to take over, and rename herself to Queen Death."

"Are you…serious?" Spectrum looked shocked. "My sister, Moon, as…as a Queen?"
"Yes, dear, she wants to become the third spirit. Dawn, Dusk and Death." Dawn replied.

Moon's eyes were shining like lanterns. It had been a very long time since her and her sister's department, and her body was very, very thin. She had dwelled in the darkness for so long, that she had become darkness itself; taking on a completely different form. Her eyes had gone baggy, her ears had grown like rabbits, and she had seven long spines on her lower back. She had grown wings, and her tail was forked, like a dragons', and all around her were dark spirits, floating about like clouds. And the distance had shown a tall, ghastly figure, with a long, evil grin.

"You will be reborn, Moon. You will be alive once again." It spoke in a shrieking, high-pitched and cruel voice.

"I will claim life and become known as Queen Death. I will become the third spirit."
"Yes," it talked again, "In a week's time, you will take the two packs, the Element Force, which are now scattered rogues, and the Blood Army, the pack from the North."
"Is that all?" Moon greedily said.

"No," it replied, "There is another; this pack called the Vanishing Ones. But you are not to take this pack. You are to take one wolf from it and one wolf only."
"What is this wolfs' name?" Moon asked.

"Her name is Crescent," it explained, "She is a betrayer of her pack, and plans to murder another she-wolf of her pack named Ghost. She is strong, cold-hearted, and an excellent fighter."

"And what do you want me to do with her?" Moon asked again.
"You are to take her in to your own pack that is soon to be formed: the God's Children."

A black clawed hand had risen from the water. It grasped a rock, and it pulled itself up. It was Moon; she had been reborn. She rose from where she had drowned, and wiped what seemed to be blood around her mouth. How did it get there?

She began to flap her wings, and flew upward very slowly; floating passively. She shook her wet fur, and flew even higher, passing rocks from the abyss she fell. She had flown to the top of the rocks, and pulled herself onto the ragged land. She looked all around, expecting wolves to come right at her, but there was nobody here.

She ran to a cave and looked inside. "...They're gone." She muttered.
"Now what was I supposed to do again?" She asked herself, "Right, find the Force."
She walked across metres of land until she came across a burrow. She ducked her head and looked inside. A spark seemed to split in her chest. It was the same burrow where she gained her elements. She immediately thought of her uncle and sister, and became angered.
She walked around, until she was at her uncle's cave. She looked inside, and immediately she smelled two wolves, one male and the other, female. She peeked into what was originally her and her sister's room, and saw the two wolves; they were looking at her in complete shock.

"W-Who are you?" the male shrieked, and the female whispered, "What are you?"
"I am a spirit from the darkness and former hunter of the Element Force." Moon told them.
The two wolves looked even more shocked this time, and the male was growling in fear.
"Stay back! You are an evil she-wolf! W-What's your name…?"
"I am Moon." She replied.

"I-I…you're Moon? You are the one that scattered the Force!" The female screamed.
"What are your names?" Moon asked, ignoring the female.
"I a-am Flare," she shook, "And this is my b-brother, Weasel."
"Alright, you two," Moon said, "You will be powerful guardians of mine. I will grant you power and high-rank if you follow my orders."

Weasel looked up, and shook his black fur, revealing a simple scar on his neck.
"Alright, then," Weasel smiled, his fear suddenly gone, "I'm sick of being a rogue. This will be interesting."

And in a moment, Weasel and Flare had been gifted with elements, high-ranks and power. Their appearances weren't so dull anymore, and they looked a lot more vivid. Weasel had green and yellow splotches on him now, and some rings around his legs that gave him character. Flare was no longer red, and now her coat seemed to be on fire. It was a rich red colour with yellow tinged here and there.

"And now," Moon told them, "I will gift you with two amulets for you both."
Seemingly, two amulets appeared behind her and moved around the wolves necks. They were moon-shaped charms, each that represented the God's Children.

"You are now the highest-ranking pack members in the God's Children," she smiled, "And you will be my top fighters."

"Will be?" Flare asked, "But you're by yourself. This does not make sense."
"But it will," Moon re-assured, "All in time. But now I have an errand that must be completed. I need to find the Vanishing Ones."

"We know where they are," Weasel stood up, and immediately told Death, "They are amongst the Grazing Place, where you used to hunt."

And Weasel walked out of the cave, and began to bolt in the distance. Flare followed along, while Moon was gliding.

It was only a short while that they had arrived at the Grazing Place. Now, though, Weasel had changed the direction south to a dense forest. Flare was just behind him, and Moon was landing on the thick, tall grass. In the dense trees and undergrowth was what looked like wind-catchers, moving about in the wind; ringing as they went. Moon cautiously led the two soldiers to the trees, and they began to hear bird calls and the squeaking of mice. She continued walking, until she came across three wolves. Flare and Weasel had followed her, and were hiding in the bushes.

"Keep quiet, you two," she whispered to them. "And stay there."
Moon walked to a black she-wolf who was sitting away from the other two. She was looking depressed and annoyed, while looking at her reflection in the water. Her ears began to swivel backward, and she then turned to Moon.

"Who are you?" She angrily said.
"I'm not here to hurt you," Moon soothed, "Are you…do you go by the name, 'Crescent', by any chance?"

"You…must be mistaken." She whimpered.
"No, I know it's you," Moon growled, then eased a little, "Follow me."
She led the young she-wolf to a little creek, and sat on a boulder that was partially damp.
"Now tell me, Crescent," Moon asked, "What are you angry about?"

"I…I'm angry because, well…see that wolf over there?" She pointed her paw to a grey male, and then relaxed, "Well, I love him dearly, but Stone's already in love with…her."
Moon was looking at where Crescent had pointed again, and then looked back at the she-wolf.
"Yes, that's Ghost," Crescent snarled, "She took my place…she got there before me."
"Listen, Crescent, I am the alpha female of the God's Children, a newly created pack, and I am honouring you to become a soldier."

"Well," Crescent hardly seemed excited by this offer at all, "Does this mean that I can get revenge on Ghost and become Stone's mate?"
Moon nodded falsely, and Crescent smiled slyly, "Excellent."
"In three days' time," Moon instructed her, "I will arrive to take you with us, and we will destroy this pack, and Ghost."
